Former Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu has voiced concerns over the manner in which the All Progressives Congress governorship primary election was conducted in Oyo State.

Addressing journalists after casting his vote, Adelabu described the exercise in Ward 9 of Ibadan South-East Local Government Area as calm, organised, and transparent.

He stated that party supporters in his ward turned out in large numbers and showed overwhelming support for his ambition during the primary election.

Despite the smooth process in his area, Adelabu alleged that the exercise was marred by irregularities in several other parts of the state. According to him, reports from different wards indicated incidents of harassment, disruption, and alleged compromise of the electoral process.

He claimed that voting commenced earlier than scheduled in some locations, while eligible party members were reportedly denied the opportunity to participate in others. He also alleged that results were documented in certain areas where no actual voting took place.

Adelabu further expressed disappointment over allegations that some party officials openly backed particular aspirants, contrary to earlier assurances that all cleared candidates would be given a fair and equal platform to contest.

He noted that formal complaints would be submitted concerning the issues observed across various zones, including Ibadan, Oke-Ogun, Ogbomosho, Ibarapa, and Oyo.

The former minister also warned against any attempt to influence the outcome of the primary through unfair practices, while expressing confidence that the party leadership would carefully review the concerns raised and ensure fairness in the final outcome.
