Singer and music producer Akon has shared insights into his polyamorous lifestyle, explaining the principles and boundaries he says help maintain stability within his family.

Speaking during a recent appearance on the “We Need to Talk” podcast, the 53-year-old entertainer discussed his approach to relationships and family life. Although he acknowledged having multiple wives, Akon chose not to disclose the exact number, jokingly leaving it to the audience’s imagination.

According to the award-winning artist, the success of such relationships depends largely on mutual understanding, communication, and agreed expectations among everyone involved.

Akon explained that relationship dynamics often change once individuals commit to one another, noting that expectations and responsibilities become more structured within committed partnerships.

He said people in relationships must establish clear boundaries and remain open in their communication if they hope to maintain balance and understanding.

The singer also revealed that he is a father of nine children, including seven boys and two girls.

Speaking further about his household structure, Akon stressed that maturity and honesty are essential in managing multiple relationships, adding that all parties involved must fully understand the arrangement and communicate effectively.

He also disclosed that his wives are not permitted to date other people and described his first wife as the central figure within the family.

According to him, she holds a unique and respected position in the household, referring to her as “Wife No. 1” and “the queen.”

Akon explained that his first wife has played a significant role in helping maintain unity within the family, particularly as new individuals become part of the household over time.

The music star further argued that the responsibilities associated with a polyamorous family structure place significant demands on the man, especially in ensuring fairness, equal treatment, and financial support for everyone involved.

He maintained that successful relationships of that nature require discipline, accountability, and a strong sense of responsibility from all parties.
