Makinde Declares 16-Hour Curfew in 10 Oyo LGAs

Governor Seyi Makinde has approved the imposition of a 16-hour curfew in 10 Local Government Areas of Oyo State as part of measures aimed at maintaining security and public order in affected communities.

According to the directive, the curfew will take effect from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. daily, beginning on Wednesday, June 24, 2026. The restriction is expected to remain in force for an initial period of 48 hours, subject to further review by the state government.

The affected Local Government Areas are located around the Old Oyo National Park and include Oriire, Orelope, Irepo, Saki West, Saki East, Atisbo, Itesiwaju, Iseyin, Olorunsogo, and Atiba.

The state government said the temporary restriction on movement is intended to enhance security operations and ensure the safety of residents within the affected areas.

Residents have been advised to comply fully with the directive and cooperate with security agencies carrying out their duties during the curfew period.

Authorities also urged members of the public to remain calm, stay vigilant, and continue to follow official channels for updates regarding the security situation and any further directives from the government.

The Oyo State Government reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property while working closely with relevant security agencies to maintain peace and stability across the state.
