Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has generated widespread reactions after expressing concerns about what he described as an alleged attempt to Islamise Nigeria.
In a video shared online, the outspoken activist claimed that many Nigerians are overlooking developments that he believes could have significant long-term consequences for the country.
According to VeryDarkMan, citizens across religious and political divides need to pay closer attention to issues affecting national unity and the future direction of the country.
He argued that both Christians and Muslims have not fully recognized what he views as a growing trend, urging Nigerians to become more vigilant and informed about developments taking place around them.
"The truth is, there's a quest to Islamise Nigeria and it's no joke. Slowly, it's creeping down on us, and it's no joke at all. There are some people planning to do so, and we're not paying attention. Christians are naive, and Muslims are too. Nigerians need to wake up," he said.
His comments quickly gained traction on social media, triggering intense discussions among users.
While some individuals supported his position and echoed concerns about the country's religious and political landscape, others criticized the remarks, arguing that such statements could fuel unnecessary tension and deepen religious divisions.
The debate has continued to attract attention online, with many Nigerians offering differing perspectives on issues of religion, governance, and national cohesion.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official response from relevant authorities regarding the claims made by the activist.
