Wike Defends Tinubu's Infrastructure Record, Responds to ADC Criticism

Wike Says ADC Has Acknowledged Tinubu's Achievements in Road Infrastructure

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has indirectly acknowledged President Bola Tinubu's achievements in road infrastructure through its recent criticism of the administration.

Wike made the remarks on Thursday during the commissioning of the interchange at Arterial Road N16 and Ring Road III Intersection, linking Jahi District to Gwarimpa District in the Federal Capital Territory.

President Bola Tinubu was represented at the event by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Reacting to the ADC's statement that Nigerians "won't eat roads alone," Wike argued that the opposition party had, by implication, admitted that the Tinubu administration had performed well in delivering road infrastructure.

"I got the news of the press release by the ADC to the Presidency that we are not going to eat roads alone. Beautiful, ADC has agreed that in terms of road infrastructures, Mr President has done very well," Wike said.

"Let us start with the one that indeed Mr President has done very well."

The minister stressed that roads remain the foundation of development in every society, noting that quality road networks are essential for access to education, healthcare, agriculture, and economic activities.

"Let them also know that without roads you can't go to school, farm, and hospital. Road is the bedrock, the engine of development in any part of this world," he added.

Wike's remarks came amid continued political exchanges between the Federal Government and opposition parties over the Tinubu administration's performance.

While the ADC has argued that infrastructure projects alone are insufficient to address the country's socio-economic challenges, the Federal Government maintains that investments in roads and other critical infrastructure are key to driving long-term economic growth and improving the lives of Nigerians.
