Nollywood actress and reality television personality Beverly Osu has revealed that long before her rise to fame, she had dreams of joining a convent and dedicating her life to religious service as a Reverend Sister.
The actress made the disclosure during a recent appearance on the Creativtea Podcast, where she reflected on her childhood, faith, and the path that eventually led her into the entertainment industry.
According to Beverly, her upbringing in a strict Catholic environment played a significant role in shaping her early ambitions and worldview.
She explained that she spent her formative years in different parts of Lagos, including Surulere, Yaba, and Ojuelegba, experiences she believes contributed to her growth and character.
The actress also recalled attending Daughters of Divine Love Juniorate in Enugu, where her desire to embrace religious life became even stronger.
At the time, she said she genuinely envisioned herself becoming a Reverend Sister and living a life devoted to the church.
Beverly revealed that one of the major attractions of religious life for her was the discipline, orderliness, and neat appearance of priests and Reverend Sisters.
She noted that her naturally meticulous personality made her admire the structured lifestyle associated with the clergy.
“I was meant to be a Reverend Sister. I wanted to really be a Reverend Sister. Now, I am doing God’s work in other ways,” she said.
Explaining further, the actress stated that she was particularly fascinated by the cleanliness and composure displayed by religious figures around her.
“I love how they dress. Because I am meticulous and very neat, I just loved how clean the priests and Reverend Sisters were. Literally, that was it,” she added.
Although her life eventually took a different direction, Beverly believes the values she learned through her religious upbringing continue to influence her choices and outlook on life.
Over the years, she has built a successful career in Nigeria’s entertainment industry, earning recognition for her acting talent, media appearances, and contributions to the creative sector.
Her revelation has sparked reactions from fans, many of whom expressed surprise at learning about the career path she once considered before finding fame in Nollywood.
While she did not become a Reverend Sister as she once envisioned, Beverly maintains that she still seeks to make a positive impact through her work and personal values.
The actress' story serves as a reminder that life journeys often take unexpected turns, leading people toward opportunities and callings they may never have imagined in their younger years.
