EFCC Drags Blessing CEO to Court Over Alleged ₦69.15m False Pretence Case

Popular social media personality and relationship coach, Blessing Okoro, widely known as Blessing CEO, has been arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of fraud involving ₦69.15 million.

The influencer appeared before Justice R.A. Oshodi of the Lagos State Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja on Tuesday, where she was charged on two counts related to alleged obtaining by false pretence and theft.

According to the anti-graft agency, the case involves funds said to belong to Hope Chiropractic Health Clinic Limited.

At the start of proceedings, EFCC counsel, C.C. Okezie, informed the court that the defendant had been properly served with the charges and requested that the arraignment proceed.

However, counsel to the defendant, Nkama Nneka, argued that service of the charge had only recently been completed.

After considering submissions from both parties, Justice Oshodi ruled that the arraignment should continue in line with legal procedures.

The charges were subsequently read to the defendant, who entered a plea of not guilty.

The EFCC alleged that on March 21, 2025, Blessing CEO misrepresented ownership of a property located at No. 1 Tunbosun Osobu Street, Lekki, Lagos, and allegedly claimed that the property had been leased to Hope Chiropractic Health Clinic Limited for a five-year period.

Prosecutors maintain that the representation was false and was made with the intention of deceiving the company into parting with ₦69.15 million.

The commission further accused the defendant of unlawfully converting the same amount, said to belong to the company, for personal use.

Following the plea, the prosecution requested a trial date and urged the court to remand the defendant in EFCC custody pending her appearance before the Federal High Court in Ikoyi in connection with another fraud-related matter scheduled for June 10, 2026.

Justice Oshodi subsequently ordered that the defendant remain in EFCC custody and adjourned the case until July 16, 2026, for the hearing of her bail application and commencement of trial.

In a separate but related development, Justice D.I. Dipeolu of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi granted the influencer bail in another case involving an alleged ₦36 million fraud.

The court fixed bail at ₦10 million and directed her to provide two sureties in the same amount. One of the sureties must be a family member and is required to submit proof of employment, a Bank Verification Number (BVN), National Identification Number (NIN), and a valid phone number.

The court also ordered the sureties to provide valid international passports, tax clearance certificates covering the last two years, and six passport photographs.

Blessing CEO had earlier been arraigned on allegations bordering on obtaining money under false pretences and stealing in relation to the separate ₦36 million case.

She also pleaded not guilty to those charges, with further proceedings expected at a later date.
