
Egypt national football team have announced a provisional 27-man squad ahead of the upcoming FIFA World Cup, with captain Mohamed Salah included in the team.Salah, who has spent nine years at Liverpool F.C., remains a key figure in the national team setup despite ongoing speculation surrounding his future at the club after the current season.
Egypt have been placed in Group G of the tournament and are scheduled to begin their World Cup campaign against Belgium national football team on June 15. They will face Iran national football team five days later before concluding the group stage against New Zealand national football team on June 22.
Mohamed Salah, who has scored 67 goals in 115 appearances for Egypt, is expected to play a leading role as the Pharaohs aim to make a strong impression at the tournament.
As part of FIFA regulations, Egypt are expected to trim the provisional squad from 27 players to the final 26-man list before the start of the competition.
In preparation for the World Cup, Egypt will face Russia national football team in an international friendly in Cairo on May 28 before taking on Brazil national football team on June 6.
