Tamunosoye Karibi-George has been crowned Miss World Nigeria 2026 after emerging victorious among 20 finalists. She will represent Nigeria at the 73rd Miss World Festival in Vietnam.
Tamunosoye Karibi-George, who represented Bayelsa State, has emerged as the winner of the Miss World Nigeria 2026 pageant. The 26-year-old native of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, outshined 19 other contestants to claim the coveted crown during the competition, which was held under the theme, “Pride, Power, and Purpose.”
The grand finale took place on Saturday evening at the Balmoral Hall of the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos, where she was officially crowned the new queen. Following her victory, Karibi-George will fly Nigeria’s flag at the 73rd Miss World Festival scheduled to hold in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, from August 9 to September 5, 2026.
Announcing the result, founder of the Silverbird Group and former senator representing Bayelsa East, Ben Murray-Bruce, congratulated the beauty queen and praised her commitment to social impact.
In a post shared on X on Sunday, Murray-Bruce described her as more than just a pageant winner, highlighting her dedication to advocacy through her initiative, Beyond Labels. According to him, the project promotes inclusion, dignity, and empowerment for children living with special needs by creating supportive environments where they can thrive and pursue their aspirations without limitations.
He noted that Karibi-George’s intelligence, confidence, sense of purpose, and passion distinguished her throughout the competition and ultimately earned her the crown. Murray-Bruce also called on Nigerians to support the new queen as she prepares to represent the country on the international stage.
He expressed confidence in her ability to inspire audiences around the world and make the nation proud during the global competition in Vietnam. Miss World Nigeria, organised by the Silverbird Group, remains one of the country's most prestigious beauty pageants.
The competition selects Nigeria’s representative for the international Miss World contest, which promotes the “Beauty with a Purpose” philosophy by encouraging contestants to champion charitable and community-focused initiatives. Karibi-George succeeds Joy Mojisola Raimi, who held the title in 2025 and represented Nigeria at the 72nd Miss World competition in Hyderabad, India. Raimi finished among the Top 20 contestants globally and ranked among the Top 5 representatives from Africa.
